Catching you guys up, and a short rant (sorry)

So I really really really don’t like the new set up for WordPress. It is incredibly difficult to share vlogs, and really just to navigate. I may feel this way because it’s been for fucking ever since I’ve updated. I’m sorry. I have filmed a few new vlogs, which I will just share the playlist here (hopefully):

Let’s see if that freaking works. The newest vlogs start at about #34, I believe. I have changed the formatting and now, instead of only talking about my books, I am talking about important stuff in the writing world. I will also talk about other things that are important to me, but right now we’re following the Amazon Kindle scammer issue.

I have moved (again) but my husband and I are back in a populated area, which is nice. I enjoy being around people that don’t abuse animals or mooch off of me. Plus, I get to live near my best friend, which is awesome. I am still working on the rewrites for Celine, but it should be done in the next few months.

Other good news, I am launching my own handmade soap company in a few months, with a couple of my friends. We are called Bunny & Bee. The company is launching in just a couple of months, so stayed tuned for more on that.

On to my rant. I enjoy making book covers. I haven’t had as much time lately, but I do enjoy it. It’s fun. However, some times you get a client that is ridiculous. I don’t mean a ‘haha’ kind of ridiculous, I mean a completely unprofessional kind of ridiculous. I have been contacted by an individual sporadically for the several months and I can’t do it any more. At first, I understood, things happen. Now every time this person pops back up their first question is about how much I charge for this, that, and the other, regardless of how many times I tell them the exact same thing. I’m a woman of my word. If I tell you something is going to be $45, not including cost of stock images, then that is what the price is. I understand this person doesn’t know me, but they have asked the same question the last 3-4 times they’ve messaged me.

As both an author and cover artist, being able to see from both sides really sucks. I want to be super angry. We’re talking flying off the handle, cuss filled ranting. I’m not going to do that. What makes me not want to work with or for this person is their long stretches of being gone, then acting as though it is my fault that we have not stayed in contact. In any business exchange, prompt responses are key. When I am the last one to say something in the conversation, traditionally the other person should respond. Otherwise, it’s a monologue, or a blog post.

To be honest, I have so much going on in my life, that I can’t wait around for someone that may or may not respond for 2-3 months at a time. This is probably going to put me on some kind of list, but whatever. I’m not demanding that people behave a certain way to please me specifically, I am just speaking about how I feel. (I hope this makes sense.)

Anyway, thank you guys so much for reading. I promise to try to be better about keeping up with these posts.

Two Goals Down!

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen; I have actually reached two of the three goals I set out for myself. I completed Becoming Jeremy and compiled the entire collection for you! The print edition of The Collection will be out soon, but it’s just taking a bit of time for me to finish editing the cover. I cannot wait for you guys to get your hands on this short story collection. There is a bonus short story as well. No spoilers, of course. You’ll just have to pick up your copy today!

New Becoming Night Touched Covers Out Now!!

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen!! Becoming Night Touched had a bit of a makeover. This will be followed by a full TNTC makeover later, but for now, I hope you love them as much as I do. These new covers are available now. (Becoming Harper and Becoming Celine will be getting their freebie status fixed soon.)

I actually reached my first goal of the year

On June 8th, I created the post “Writing Goals-Better Late Than Never” outlining that I wanted to complete the Becoming Night Touched mini series, create the collection and publish that, AND release the new edition of TNTC Book 1: Celine. Well, I am happy to say that I have hit goal 1!

A short story typically does not take that long to write. However, if you are constantly busy and stressed out, then creativity fails to come. I pushed through and Becoming Jeremy is now published. It’s a huge relief to have it finished. It is very short, but I felt that because we learn so much about Jeremy in Book 2, there wasn’t a lot I could say in the short story that would not be repetitive. I hope that you like it.

So I am now putting the BNT collection together, but it might take me a while, there is a surprise in store for everyone that picks up a copy and I want to make sure that it’s perfect before release. The collection will be available in digital and print form.

I do have an update on my personal life as well! I was just accepted into the University of Houston and so I am going to be crazy busy for the next 6-8 years. I am going the Pre-Law Poli-Sci route. Yes, ladies and gents, I am on my way to becoming an attorney. No, I cannot provide legal advice. No, I cannot do any documents for you. Sorry. Have to get that out of the way.

Brian and I have also adopted another dog. His name is Jack! Buddy, the stray that we took in last year, has found a new home and I’m so happy for him. Jack was adopted from the local ASPCA and is a riot. He loves to fetch, pull the squeakers out of his toys, and his daddy. He has not left Brian’s side since we brought him home. So now, Oliver has a friend that is closer to his size, closer to his age, and neutered.

Writing Goals- Better Late than Never

So the year is already half over and I have only just committed to my writing goals. After a conversation with the always inspiring Joleene Naylor and Tricia Drammeh, I actually spoke the goals that I had been keeping quietly locked away in my head. I had figured that if I told anyone what they were, I would have to commit. Well, I’ve told my two closest writing companions and now I have to commit. I could choose not to admit them to you; I could have kept it in locked away. The conversation was private, so no one would know. But as I’ve said before, I want to be completely open and honest with all of you. You are my readers, my followers, some of the most valued people in my life. If I am honest with you, I always hope that you’re honest with me. So… without further delay.

1. Finish Becoming Jeremy.

While my first goal is to complete a short story, it’s obtainable and easy enough to reach. I just have to do it.

2. Release the Becoming Night Touched collection.

Again, an easy enough goal. This is just putting all of the short stories together, formatting, creating a cover, and make it available for print. Easy enough in theory.

3. Release the “new” version of Celine.

The story line is going to remain the same, but as I said before I want the books to match more than they currently do. There are also some small bits that I need to change in Jeremy but nothing to the same degree.

So there you have it; my writing goals for the year. Do you have any goals that you just now adding to your list of things to do? Please share them in the comments below!

A big announcement or two

On March 8th, 2013, I hit publish on The Night Touched Chronicles Book One: Celine. For those of you that have been a part of the Night Touched universe since the beginning, and for those of you that have just joined, you know that next weekend marks a big milestone for the series. We will be celebrating the two year anniversary of the release of Celine! I will be offering Celine and Jeremy free for Kindle for that entire weekend. Promotional artwork will be coming soon.

On that note, I have another big announcement. Texas (Book Three) is being put on hold for the time being. Don’t worry, I’m not abandoning the series or going on hiatus with my writing. I am actually planning on completely revamping (pardon the pun) Celine. Jeremy is in a league of his own, and Celine is just kind of the dorky big sister that doesn’t get a lot of attention. I want to change that. I won’t give anything away other than the base story will remain the same, but things will be changing. I want to have those changes made and released before I get back to work on Texas. Becoming Silas and Becoming Jeremy are still going to be out soon, but after their release, my work on Celine will commence.

I hope that you all grab your free copies next weekend, if you don’t have a copy already. Thank you so much to everyone that has supported the series since the beginning. Thank you to those of you that are just discovering my crazy little vampire world and find it interesting. I appreciate all of you so very much.

Blog Monday- Homework got in the way

I have a very interesting job. There is a lot of information involved, and I am forced to spend the night studying. It’s actually pretty cool, and I wouldn’t change the opportunities I’ve been given for the world.

There is not a whole lot going on in TNTC world. I am at about 40k in the word count, which means almost 20k away from goal. It will be nice to hit it because Celine did not hit goal.

Since September is over tomorrow, I would venture to say that Jeremy’s first draft will be finished early October. After the first draft is finish, I will be calling for Beta Readers (as I’ve said.)

Thank you guys for staying up with the blog. I greatly appreciate it!!

Blog Monday

Since my current recording… area… is unavailable, I’ve decided to do a good, old fashion written post. It’s been a while since I’ve done one and I thought that it would be enjoyable for everyone.

There has been a lot of progress on Jeremy and I’m happy to say that I think that the first draft will be done by the end of  September, beginning of October. I’m shooting for a release date of Christmas, but I’m not making any promises. I wanted to apologize to you guys, again, for how long it has taken me to get it done. When I started writing Jeremy (over a year ago) I had anticipated it to be an end of 2013/ beginning of 2014 release, but life seriously got in the way. I appreciate you guys so much for sticking with me.

On the Night Touched train of thought, the final 3 Becoming Night Touched stories will be out in time for the Jeremy release. I’ve almost finished Celine’s so it should be out relatively soon.

I’m also going to be calling for 2-3 more beta readers for Jeremy as soon as the first draft goes into the editing stage. If you’re interested in signing up, please click here to find out more information.

Thank you guys so much for checking in on today’s post. If you have any questions for me, or if you have any ideas for future vlogs, leave a comment. If you haven’t had a chance to subscribe to the Youtube for all the latest videos from me, click here. See you all in the next video!! The Guide to Self Publishing, Episode 2 will be out on Wednesday. My video review for Vampire Morsels by Joleene Naylor will be up on Thursday.
