Inactivity doesn’t make a whole heck of a lot of difference

So, I know I have let my blog, and my author Facebook page fall to the wayside as I have tried to figure out what exactly it is that I want from my series. It’s been hard, and I’ve continued to feel like a failure. I’ve talked about that before, so I won’t get into the major details. Needless to say, I’m making a lot of changes to the story. I know, I know, I’ve said that before, too. I recognize that. And I don’t want to say too much because I don’t know how long it will take, but let’s just say things will not be the same in the little universe I’ve created.

I started publishing because I’ve always been a writer. I’ve always wanted to tell stories, plain and simple. I’m thankful to have reached that point, but I’ve allowed myself to get in such a funk, that I don’t see anyway out of it without tearing everything down and starting over. I want to do what’s best for myself, my characters, my world, and most importantly, you guys. And that means a lot of things that I can’t talk about right now without inevitably making promises I don’t know that I can keep.

This blog, and Facebook page are going back dormant. My Youtube channel hasn’t gone anywhere in the last year, and that’s another thing that will continue to be dormant for a long while.

I encourage everyone attending the Indie Author Book Expo this year to pick up the copies of Celine that will be for sale there, because as of August 1st, I am pulling sales for the books for the time being. I can’t say exactly when anything will go back up, or what will happen, but for my own sake, I need to pull the book down. Thank you all for your continued support, and I can promise that I am doing what I can to make you all proud of these characters. We are all eternally grateful.

Beyond Cocky

Confused about #cockygate? Tricia Drammeh has created a timeline of events. Thanks Tricia!!

Interview with Tricia Drammeh

Check out the latest interview with one of my favorite authors. I am so beyond honored to call this woman ‘friend’ and even more so ‘mentor.’ I will forever fan girl over Tricia, and you should, too!

Today's Author

Tricia DrammehTricia Drammeh is an author who writes in many genres: YA, fantasy, paranormal, romance, and women’s fiction. I asked her to share her thoughts on craft and publishing.

Do you decide on genre before you start writing? Does your audience shift or is there crossover?

I usually have some idea of genre, though there have been times I’ve been surprised by the outcome. For example, with Better than Perfect, I had originally intended to write a romance. It turned out to be Women’s Fiction, as the story focused more on the main character’s non-romantic relationships and her evolution as a person.

I would say my audience is broken down into two types of readers, though there is some crossover. There are the readers who fell in love with Better than Perfect and who wish I’d write more Women’s Fiction. Then there are my readers who love young adult fiction with…

The Amaranthine Series by Joleene Naylor

Book Reviews By Heather

Welcome to Book Reviews By Heather! Normally if I am reading, have read, a series of novels/short stories I would give each an individual review. Considering I read this series like I had just ran a marathon and needed hydration, I will be writing this first review on the entire series and short stories! Yes, it is that good!

I found the series by complete accident while browsing the “Free Nook Books” section of (I’m a thrifty shopper don’t judge). What initially grabbed me was the cover art, seeing as how I discovered the “Vampire Morsels” short stories first, I found it interesting that she used colorful cartoon looking illustrations for each characters backstory cover. Do not be fooled by the character illustrations, these ARE NOT children’s books!

I know exactly what you’re thinking, “Oh hell, not ANOTHER sparkly ooey-gooey vampire series,” as you slam your head into a…

Amaranthine Fan Fiction Fling

There may or may not be a crossover with a Night Touched character or two. If you’re a fan of the Amaranthine series, you definitely need to check this out.

Amaranthine by Joleene Naylor

Did you want Verchiel to turn Katelina? Did you want to see Sorino and Kai in a romantic short? Or maybe you thought Micah should hook up with someone, or that Katelina should have said yes to Samael. Now’s your chance to address those things, and right the wrongs. That’s right. It’s time for fan fiction!

What is fan fiction? A story written by a fan about characters from a fandom. Fan fiction can stay in the canon universe (in other words it could fit in with everything that happened in the series) or it can be alternate universe (meaning that crazy things can happen, like maybe Patrick didn’t get killed, or maybe Katelina joined Malick and had a showdown with Jorick – the possibilities are endless!)

Between May 16 – July 16, 2017 submit as many Amaranthine fan fiction stories as you’d like by sending them to Joleene (at)…

New Teasers and Some Decisions

So, I’ve decided in the past few days that I need to actually do more to advertise. I’m an author, I have books and works that are available for people to read, why do I not tell more people about them. With help from my dear friend, Edith, I am feeling much more motivated to tell people about it. I have a couple of teasers for you that you are welcome to share, or do whatever you’d like with. If you haven’t read Celine or any of my other work yet, please know that it is all available on Amazon and part of the Kindle Unlimited program!!

Something to write about

This week has been incredibly difficult for me. I never expected to be as sad as I was, or get over it as quickly as I did. I am feeling much much better, and honestly, I am ready to move forward.

I am doing a beta read/edit for a dear friend and I’m enjoying it already. I wish I could tell you guys more about it, but I can’t :P.

I started doing the 365 Days of Gratitude challenge, after some encouragement from my friend, Jonathan Harvey. I’m on day 3, and I think that it is really helping me find things to be grateful for. It’s like a social contract with my Facebook friends, which is really cool.

Spiritually, last Sunday was a big moment for me, and I am beginning a new step on my path. I am so so happy with everything right now.

I’m still working on Jeremy, even though it is NOT a rewrite. I’m just struggling with focus. I don’t write on here often enough, and I hope to change that soon. Even if I just post little life updates like this.

Thank you to those that still read my blog. I’m sorry I’m not better at it.

I’ll be off to bed soon, but I just felt like making a post. Having a wonderful evening/ day!

Always Hope

All I Have to Say

So much has happened recently, in my small part of the world and in the greater world we all share. Regardless of which corner of the world you inhabit, or what political views you may hold, there is one thing all human beings cling to – hope. There is always hope, even when we can’t see it. There have been many times that I’ve felt hopeless. Today I wrote a short, simple poem to remind myself that even during the longest night, there is always the promise of a brand new day.

Day surrenders to the night
Sun succumbs to dim moonlight
Color fades to shady gray
It seems all hope has flown away

When evil pushes good aside
Fearful souls will run and hide
Very few will stand their ground
When only shadows can be found

But some find comfort in the dark
Where faith emits the…

Closing a Chapter

Today, I have chosen, for better or worse, to walk away from the Facebook group, Book Born. I had a lot of great times in that group, and met a lot of wonderful people. Unfortunately, there were a few things that happened behind the scenes that required me to leave. I hope that those of you that found Book Born through me, or found me through Book Born, continue to support the group in all of its endeavors.

I am choosing not to speak ill of anyone, and I ask that if you have questions, you keep them respectful. I will not try to discredit anyone or humiliate anyone for the sake of drama. I also want it noted that I am not asking anyone to leave with me. If you choose to leave, then please do it of your own accord. I am not starting another group. I am going to be working on my books and continuing to do what I love.

I want to thank everyone that is a member of Book Born for providing me with so much love and support. Your friendship has meant, and continues to mean so much.

I hope that you are all well, and continue on your journey in peace, light, and love.

Thank you,
